Fishing in Ogden

We went to the Cold Springs Trout Farm in North Ogden. It was a great "first time fishing experience" for the kids.

There were seven ponds that were fully stocked with rainbow and brown trout.

The rods were basic rods, no reel, just about 4 feet of line and a hook with a piece of leather on it (which the fish thought was a pellet of fish food).

Alex was the first kid to catch a fish...

... and then he pulled in a second one which Grandpa tried to get him to pose by.

Aimee kept pulling in the small ones. She got 3 total.

Aaron caught a 12" fish. He caught a total of 4 fish.

Alex, Aaron, Tyson, Jill and Kerry helped the kids fish.

Fish food was 25¢ a cup. Those feeder fish just loved to jump at it. You'ld swear they didn't feed these fish.

Through the combined efforts of Mike and Tyson, they netted a 13" fish (the biggest of the day). Mike held the line just above the water and Tyson tossed fish food at the hook. Within seconds the big fish we were after jumped and caught the hook.

We told the kids to avoid the mud... but Alex found out he was in it a little too late. He got both feet stuck in the thick mud and sunk to his ankles, freaked out and sat down. Luckily Dad was a feet behind him and pulled him out before there was too much trauma.

Randy's Gift

Randy has been laboring away in the garage in an attempt to finish his gift for Jill and Tyson... a custom made headboard.

The picture above was taken a few days ago and the headboard is now stained and awaiting a few final touches. We'll post updated photos tomorrow.

Jill and Tyson's Wedding Weekend

I'll let the others elaborate. I'll just post the pics:

Jill and Tyson's Wedding Luncheon was held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Lion House in Salt Lake City, UT.

(l-r: Randy, Debi, Jill, Tyson, Chris and Roland)

Chicken Parmesan on a bed of Bowtie Pasta with zuchinni and carrots with a famous "Lion House" roll and chocolate cake for dessert.

Tyson and Jill Whitesides were married on the morning of July 8, 2006 in the Bountiful Temple.

The whole family (sans Greg) were there to witness it.

Jill's niece and nephews waited patiently waiting for their turn in the pictures:

Kerry and Michelle are weeks away from their first anniversary.

After the wedding ceremony (and the pictures) it was a mad dash back to Roy to prep for the reception.

Jill's cousins came from near and far for the wedding.

... and on a final note: Where is Tyson?

Boredom strikes in the waiting room...

Today's the day!

Greg is now Elder Reynolds (as of last night) and will be entering the MTC at 1 pm. I have a hard time thinking of my LITTLE brother being a missionary, but I know he will be great! Two years will go quickly and he will come home to older nieces and nephews (and at least one... who knows what will happen in two years... that he hasn't met yet.)

What are Mom and Dad going to do? Their house is getting quieter and quieter. We'll have to go visit so they don't get to used to the calm! :)

The big 5-0!

Ok, I'm a day late posting this, but We did call yesterday and the kids (and Mike) sang Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Mom! I can only hope to look as great as you do at 50!

Greg's visit to Texas

We all loved having Greg come and visit. Alex LOVES Greg! One of the first things out his mouth was always "Greg?" or "Where's Greg?" We even heard that this morning and had to tell Alex again that Greg had gone back to Grandma's house. The kids had a great time and Greg was great at keeping them entertained (can you come back?) :)

After an eventful flight to TX (3 hours late thanks to turning around and returning to SLC to change planes) Greg got here on Wed just in time for dinner with the missionaries and bedtime for the kids.

Thursday we headed downtown to the Alamo and Riverwalk. The river had been drained due to some construction that was going on, so he didn't get the full effect, but he said he liked it anyway. We had lunch down there (much cheaper than dinner) and got back just before the kids got out of school. Once the kids went to bed, the canasta cards came out!

Friday we headed to the SA Temple for a session. It was strange, but wonderful, to look over and see Greg in the temple with us. A friend was watching the kids for us since it wasn't open until after school. More canasta after the kids bedtime.

Saturday we did some yard work, it was too nice of a day to stay inside. We bar-b-qued hamburgers for lunch and then washed the car. We went to Rudy's for dinner that night. With BBQ sauce in hand (for both Greg and us) we headed home to put kids to bed. More cards, this time Mike played too.

Sunday was church, bright and early (especially if you stay up until 1-2am playing cards.) Mike stayed home with Alex and Aimee for Sacrament meeting (Aimee had been coughing ALL night long and Alex had a runny nose) and then I went home and he went to church to teach preisthood. 3 handed Canasta after bedtime.

Monday we did laundry... exciting I know. Greg did play with the kids a lot. Alex while the other kids were at school, and the other two once they got home. More cards after bedtime.

Tuesday Greg and I played some more canasta. We had to break the tie before he headed home. We got him to the airport on time and headed home (after a stop to get some milk.)

THANKS for coming Greg. We enjoyed it and I hope you did too!

Now, we get to look forward to a visit from Grandma (and maybe Grandpa?) in March. Kerry and Michelle are more than welcome to come for Spring Break if they would like. We would love to have you visit!
